Hurray, you’ve secured your spot in Birth Matters NYC class + both online courses (the BEST combo!).
BUT HOLD ON, YOU’RE NOT DONE YET!
Please complete your registration by doing the following:
1) Complete the appropriate form (select the appropriate one):
2) Check your inbox for the logon info you’ll need to access the Birth Matters Complete Course and the Natural Breastfeeding Online Course. Be sure to whitelist birthmattersnyc.com (or check your spam if you don’t see the emails.).
3) You can go ahead with the Natural Breastfeeding course anytime, but we recommend you create your logon but hold off on going through the Birth Matters course and instead use it after the live course for review/refresh.
4) Please read to the bottom:
Highly recommended (but optional):
1) Sign up for my free, email course “11 Steps to an Amazing Birth” — it’s an ideal lead-in to the live class. (Please note: if you already opted in for my free packing list, you’ll already receive an offer to proceed with this)
2) For pregnant parent, two book recommendations:
a) Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin — ideal for those preferring unmedicated birth and/or desiring to normalize birth as a healthy, natural process — and build confidence in doing so. (Heads up: it’s very heteronormative. It’s also quite crunchy.)
b) Your Birth Plan by my NYC colleague, Megan Davidson — hot off the presses in 2019 and a very inclusive book for those who want current, best-evidence data along with local, relevant, diverse stories (told by an anthropologist-doula), with a tone that is supportive of any/all birth preferences.
3) For partner/labor support - The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin
What's Next?
Comprehensive group series: about a week before class, you'll get an email from instructor Lisa (info@birthmattersnyc.com or lisa@birthmattersnyc.com) with a reminder of class dates, and times and all the details you need to know before showing up to the first class. In-person classes meet in Lisa's comfy living room classroom at 20-30 43rd Street, Astoria, NY 11105. Street parking usually easy. Virtual classes meet on Zoom and you’ll receive the link in the orientation email.
Comfort measures workshop meets either virtually on Zoom or in Lisa's comfy living room classroom at 20-30 43rd Street, Astoria, NY 11105. Street parking usually available. Please wear stretchy/athletic clothing that both you & your partner can squat and kneel in. If you’re also taking this along with Lisa’s online course, it's most ideal for you to have gone through Modules 1 & 2 before the workshop, if possible. If you want to do/have done more, that's totally fine, but skip Module 3 since that's what we'll go over in the workshop.
Private sessions: meets either virtually on Zoom or in Lisa's comfy living room classroom at 20-30 43rd Street, Astoria, NY 11105 (unless you’ve made arrangements for Lisa to travel to you). Street parking usually available. Feel free to bring any food you’d like to eat during our session. For birth sessions only: Please wear stretchy/athletic clothing that both you & your partner can squat and kneel in.
See you in class!
